For more than 26 years, artist Denise Lucas has pursued her passion for drawing and painting, first as a pastime and then, more recently, as a vocation. Born in 1958 in the town of Charleroi, a historic riverside community located 25 miles south of Pittsburgh, PA, Denise spent her formative years developing her talents in the fine arts.  While earning degrees in nursing and specialized business and working in a number of fields, Denise’s interest in art remained steadfast. In the mid 80s, she returned to the classroom to study graphic design at LaRoche College.  She now continues her studies with locally and nationally renowned watercolor artists. In 1990, Denise and her husband, Dave, founded Lucas Artworks, a successful business that creates high-quality watercolor and pen and ink architectural illustrations used to market new homes. Additionally, she is also an enthusiastic and gifted teacher.  Through workshops held in her studio, adults and children can develop and nurture their artistic talents through Denise’s expert instruction. As part of both private and commercial collections, her pieces are currently on display at local and national galleries. Today, Denise resides and works in Plum Borough, a fast-growing community in Pittsburgh’s eastern suburbs.
